Description:
For many creatives, collaborating with people in other countries, particularly those in the global south, can be an intimidating idea. This unfortunately results in creators never teaming up with amazing, talented, people. Join a panel of South American creators and creatives as we talk specifics of how we have collaborated across borders, tackling topics such as finding/connecting with creatives in other countries, strategies for working together, and logistical solutions for things like payment and communication.
Panelists
Adrián Mejía (he/him) is a software engineer and game designer. He was born and raised in Quito, the city that he loves and hates. He wants to see more latines in Fantasy and Scifi, both as characters and players, and tell stories he doesn’t see elsewhere.
Hipólita (she/her) is a trans lesbian TTRPG designer, writer, editor, consultant and general spinner of plates from Argentina. In her designs, she focuses on discussing colonialism and gender and letting mechanics express those themes through play. You might know her from her work designing Cantrip, a GMless game about queer witches at school, and RAD, a look at mutual aid, transhumanism, ideology and the state in a Sovietpunk Central Asian wasteland.
Lucas Conti is a Social Scientist, assistant editor for Indievisivel Press and author of RPGs including the afrofuturist Mojubá and Full Metal Cria, where children fight with robots during school recess. He is a fan of fighting RPGs like Karyu Densetsu and weird settings such as Dark Sun.
Shawn Banerjee (they/them) is the pan with a plan. A best-selling designer, editor, and project manager; they have a passion for helping people tell tales. They want to see more diverse voices have the chance to express different perspectives. Shawn founded The Word Refinery to elevate underrepresented populations in the worlds we all love and introduce us to new worlds we never imagined. Is everybody ready? Let’s tell a story.
wendi yu (she/ela) is a travesti monster from Northeast Brasil who makes things out of words and images. She has a Master’s in Contemporary Media and Culture, and is currently doing a PhD in the same area. She’s made three TTRPGs so far, the latest of which is ‘here, there, be monsters!’, a response to monster-hunting media from the monsters’ point of view. She’s also at times been a screenwriter, poet, designer, editor and sensitivity reader. She’s wanted dead, alive or reanimated.
