Description:

This panel will discuss how we got our foot in the door in TTRPGs, any lessons learned from our professional and artistic journeys, as well as exercises for how to create, boost, or manage your own online presence in the ways that matter to you.

The goal of this panel is to help you identify what makes you unique in this space and highlight the key information that potential collaborators, employers, clients, sponsors, and artistic partners will want to know about you. We will aim to cover multiple perspectives, ranging from AP performers to artists to game designers and beyond. You’ll leave with resources (such as worksheets or useful links) that allow you to create something tangible, whether that’s the foundation for a great personal website, a Linktree, and/or concrete next steps for how to grow your presence in TTRPGs on your own terms.

Panelists

Connie Chang (they/he/she) is a trans actual play Game Master and TTRPG designer weaving black-hearted apocalyptica with stories of queer grief, rage, monstrosity, and euphoria. They are the GM and Creative Director for Transplanar RPG, an ENNIE-nominated, all-transgender, people of color-led dark fantasy, multi-system TTRPG show telling stories set in an original noncolonial, antiorientalist multiverse. He is also the designer behind GODKILLER, a holypunk duet PbtA game for one player, the Godkiller, and one GM, God.

Erin Roberts (she/her) is a writer of stories and games. Her recent game writing has appeared in Journeys Through The Radiant Citadel (D&D), Dragonlance: Shadow of the Dragon Queen (D&D), Hunter: The Reckoning Fifth Edition (World of Darkness), Lost Omens: Travel Guide (Pathfinder), and Interstellar Species (Starfinder). Her prose fiction has been published in magazines including Asimov’s, Clarkesworld, Podcastle, and The Dark. You can keep up with her latest thoughts and escapades by checking her out every week on the Writing Excuses podcast or following her on Twitter at @nirele.

Nala J. Wu (they/them) is a proud queer/trans nonbinary art director (All the Witches, Evil Hat Productions) and award-winning illustrator (Apocalypse Keys, Uncaged Goddesses, Coyote & Crow) who works full time in tabletop RPGs. Besides art, Nala does voice acting, sensitivity/DEI consults, and makes appearances on TTRPG Actual Play streams & panels— most notable: the award-winning VtM actual play Itaewon by Night.

Poorna M (she/her) went to the TTRPG milliner’s and emerged with many, many hats. At the moment, she’s wearing a fascinator that screams : writer. On occasion, she has been known to don an editorial top hat, a process management trilby, even a jaunty AP beret. She has a soft spot for bookish folx and bedlam. She hails from southern and western India and has never met a bookshelf she didn’t covet. In the rare moments she isn’t distracted by fantasy fiction and the brilliant world of board games, she rambles about mental health in her slice-of-life webcomic, Meta Cheez. There is only so much time she can go without caffeination before language processing becomes insurmountable.
