Description:

Enter a world of fairytale and breathtaking moments of magic and wonder. In Her Footsteps is a narrative, feelings-focused game of witches, magic, the unknown – and the paths that connect us all.

For this event, your group will be able to pick from several world seeds that foster fairytale and fantasy narratives (updated to be anticolonial and feminist). You”ll grow your world seed into a world like no other. You’ll then create witches from 13 paths of magic, including paths like Flesh and the Dreaming World or Labyrinth of Briars. Then play to find out what threatens your world, what wisdom or magic can change the tides, and whether your witches will hold fast to their magic or succumb to their banes.

Designed by Christie R. Fremon and April Kit Walsh, this game offers a unique take on the Powered by Lesbians and Powered by the Apocalypse systems, giving players more agency and control over their spotlight moments. World and character creation often lead to bewitching places and out-of-the-ordinary witches.

In Her Footsteps centers feminine power and stories and explores themes of otherness, feminine power, found family, and interconnectedness. These stories are inclusive of trans women, cis women, and people of any gender who see something of themselves in the feminine. The themes are also not limited to feminine ones. While our experiences of femininity inform the focus of the game, we expect the themes to resonate and speak to experiences of people of other genders as well.
