Description:

The novices are locked in the holiest of holy in Athena’s temple. This final night you will be tested and tempted by the gods themselves. Will you have the faith to turn your back forever on family, love, and desire to become an Exalted Virgin Priestess and finally have true power in the world of men? Or will you listen to the sweet temptations of wild Dionysus, the god of ritual madness and fertility, and leave with his free but shunned cultists. Maybe you will reject the gods, returning to your beloved but intensely patriarchal Ancient Arcadian Greece outside the temple walls. Your virginity, your soul, the patronymic name that your father branded into your very skin – you might lose them all tonight.

This game is Nordic in style. The game has a framework for the structure of play to guide you, but the character sheets are very sparse – you will develop your character extensively during workshop, and most of the content of game will emerge during play from the dynamics between characters. The game structure includes: character development and world building workshop, the game, and debrief time after. This game can get pretty intense, and can lean in to dealing with some very serious and salient issues; please read the description carefully to make sure you understand the tone of the game and think you will enjoy contributing to it.

We will employ “Open Door,” “Cut and Brake,” and the “Okay Check-In” safety mechanics. While the “Open Door” Policy will be in effect, we encourage players to -plan- to attend the entire event when they sign up (no planning to drop in for only half of the event, or planning to leave half way through for another event), confident that they will be able to bow out temporarily or permanently for self care reasons. We further ask that you do not attend this event in an altered mental state that makes it difficult or impossible for you to recognize how your actions are impacting other players.

All characters identify as female or non-binary, players of all genders (or none) are equally welcome. I will have a zero-tolerance policy for costume shaming or pressure to present as femme. You do not need to look “femme,” for whatever that means to you or anyone else, to play a female or non-binary identifying character in this game. You will be expected to take the themes and constraints of being femme presenting in a strongly patriarchal society seriously.

Please note trigger warnings vary by individual character and players can avoid all but Patriarchal Society.

This game is written by Susanne Vejdemo and Anna-Karin Linder and run by Acata Felton.
