Description:
Behind the Magic has Players creating a fantasy mockumentary that is “Lord of the Rings” meets “This is Spinal Tap”. They play a group of adventurers that range from incompetent to egotistical as they bumble their way along their quest. Players will act out scenes and have “confessionals” with the bard who is documenting the journey.
This variant will be played in front of an audience, with the audience shaping the story. Audience members will create the characters, quest goals, scenes, and more as the bard and adventurers act the story out.
The cast will consist of:
- Karen Twelves: The Bard
- James D’Amato: Adventurer #1
- Jeeyon Shim: Adventurer #2
- Brodie Atwater: Adventurer #3
- Banana Chan: Adventurer #4
- Ash Cheshire: Adventurer #5
- Nathan Black: The Villain
- Randy Lubin: Audience Facilitator

Can’t wait AHHH I’m so excited
It came back, Huzzah!
Looks like I needed to log off from mobile, log off on computer, log on only on computer. Log off and log on again. Easy as that.
Does anyone know what it might mean that there is no “book noe” button?
*Ahem*
I mean “book now”
Hmm that’s odd – do you see Book Now buttons for other events?
Hmmm, thank you for asking, after checking, I am not seeing a “Book Now” button for any in this seminar category.
Try logging out and logging back in – that’s what did the trick for me.
Yeah, I’ve been trying that. Thank you though
It’ll share a lot with long form improv. The audience will mostly be giving suggestions but we’ll also be pulling a few in to play the roles of NPCs. We’re still discussing other ways to get folks involved so let us know if you have suggestions!
I’m also running a regular version of Behind the Magic on Friday, as a freeform larp where everyone plays the role of the adventurers. https://www.bigbadcon.com/events/behind-the-magic/
I’m not familiar enough with the game to make good suggestions but I can say I’ll have my heckling voice primed and ready to go 😉
What role will the players have in this event? Will we be spectators giving suggestions for an improvisational play or will we also be performers in the play? It sounds like long form improvisational theatre.
