Description:

It is 2101 and the world is split between the interests of an oligarchy of giant corporate conglomerates and the handful of geopolitical unions with the resources to still keep the corporations in check. The line between public and private is thin and unstable due to limited resources and a changing climate. Freelancers, those who sell their specialty for a living, often ride that line and serve as proxies in engagements between not just corporate and government entities, but in almost any dispute imaginable. Recently, Firewatch learned of Dr. Richard Braumsted’s illegal operations in Thailand, where the program director aimed to create a fully autonomous class five artificial intelligence against the explicit protocols of the Tokyo Accord.

Where there’s a Firewatch contract there’s always good money to be had. None more so than when the contract is against someone in violation of the Accord. But rumor is that the Drachen Industries skunkworks department, Drachen Krupp, is in the area and that’s made more than its fair share of Freelancers back down. Still Dr. Braumsted’s on the run and the money’s good. Best not to let the news of a little bit of corporate security dissuade you from the contract of a lifetime, right?
