Description:

Thousands of years ago Nizar-Thun was a fearsome Sorcerer who lived high in the mountains in his palace. This palace was a complex of rooms and corridors carved into the living rock itself. Here Nizar-Thun did his great works of magic, housed his armies and hid his treasures. Some said he was working on a potion of immortality when a rival brought his reign of terror to an end. Enter The Halls of Nazir-Thun and find and retrieve the potion of immortality in exchange for your freedom!

Game Description
Crypts & Things is a variant of Swords & Wizardry which is a retro-clone of Original D&D.

Play as Barbarians, Warriors, and Thieves. No Demi-Humans. Everyone is a thief, it’s just that the thief does it better. Everyone can backstab and cleave. Magic is a double-edge sword. Think Conan rather than Tolkien. Sanity Mechanics, eldritch horrors, mad magicians, strange elixirs -need i say more!

The Halls of Nazir-Thun has been completely mapped in a silhouette, top-down, black and white style as well as the player, monster, and eldritch horror tokens. As you move through the palace halls only sections of the the halls are revealed. See oldheroesneverdie.com for some pics.

Everything needed will be provided including jumbo dice, pencils, player tokens, and character tomes.

Leave your 10ft pole at home-this is a game of Action and Adventure!

  • Hey alright Wiliam and Kasi thanks for the kind words! I will be retiring this scenario after BigBadCon but look for a follow-up at KublaCon 2016. I changed up how most of the encounters work and just added a new Fantastic Finish for CelestiCon and BigBadCon 2015. I even had a return player at CelestiCon 2015 -there were a lot of changes since he last played in 2014.

    Stay Ballsy!

I second William Lee. The was the best game I played at CelestiCon 2014. As a result, I bought Swords and Wizardry and ran it at Dundra Con with the same amazing results. The players from that game still play with me in the ongoing scenario. Thanks Gene! Let me know when you have a different scenario so I can play again!

I had the pleasure of playing in Gene’s game at KublaCon. Gene’s Crypts & Things game hits all the right notes in evoking the best of Old School Dungeon Crawl. Like the man says, leave your 10ft pole at home. This Conan-style sword & sorcery game is fast-paced, action-packed, and has a lot of Howard/Lovecraft-style weirdness to boot.

I strongly recommend this game, and recommend even more strongly that you bring your best Ah-nuld Schwarzenegger impersonation. Even if you don’t get into the game, swing by Gene’s table to check out his beautiful props and components.
