Description:

Cortex Prime is a modular game system. We’ll use its customizable rules for one of the following playsets.

Eidolon Alpha (fantasy, superheroic):

Eidolon Alpha is a setting for Cortex Prime. It is a world of fables and legends and godlike spirits who watch over a thriving civilization of city-states ringing a bright sea. In Eidolon Alpha, you play an endarch, an individual chosen by one of these spirits, these eidolons, to act as a vessel for their power and an instrument of their will in the world. Only a handful in each generation are chosen for this blessing, though many others serve the eidolons as acolytes and lay folk. For the endarchs, the ability to embody their eidolon’s mystical powers grants them abilities above and beyond those of their fellow citizens, and a responsibility to use that power to further their eidolon’s cause.

Tales of the Hollow Empire (fantasy, adventure, interpersonal drama)

There is another world within the hollow of our own—a world lit by an inner sun, where creatures that have long been extinct on the surface continue to roam and magic and prophecy shape the course of events. This is a story of simple townsfolk and unlikely heroes beset by dangers—dark omens, visitors from the surface, and bloodthirsty warrior hordes.

An Affair of Arms (fantasy, dark, political)

The king is on his deathbed, and has no clear heir. Courtiers intrigue, armies muster, and the whole of the kingdom prepares for the coming storm.

    Hi Alan,

I would be happy to try Tales of the Hollow Empire, with Eidolon Alpha as a second preference.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

Hi Folks! Since this game is a last-minute substitution for a fantasy-themed Cortex Game that was cancelled, I have a few different options for fantasy-themed Cortex games that we could play instead. Please let me know here in the comments what you’re interested in playing so I can make sure to have the correct materials prepared.
