Description:
You are hereby intreated, in ye name of Ye MYSTICK KREWE of COMUS to present y’rself bedecked…
On February 27, 2006, one year after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, you meet for the final Mardis Gras Ball of the season. In the historic Salle d’Orleans, past epicenter of New Orleans social life, the rich and powerful of the city gather behind closed doors to debauch themselves and to plan for the future of their city. The hurricane is a crisis and an opportunity both in a city rich in culture and corruption.
Laissez les Bon Temps Roulez!
This is a LARP of political intrigue and drama about New Orleans after the flood, and about the strange history of Mardis Gras. It was first run in May of 2006.
Costuming will be modern day formal wear, or historical costumes, with masks provided for those who wish to wear them.
*This larp touches on the racial tensions of both 19th century and present day New Orleans.
**Many plots also involve dysfunctional or complex human relationships. Players will be given a survey that allows them to list plots they would not be comfortable with participating in.
Our character surveys will go out early next week.
For those worried about the 7 open spaces, we’re 90% sure we’ve crossed a threshold where we have enough people to run, and if that changes, we’ll let you know that by Monday the 3rd as well.
Any restrictions on masks that can be brought?
The masks should be appropriate for a ball and fit into the mardis gras theme (no full head covering teddy bear heads). Other than that, no restrictions if you are making, but we will ask in our character survey for a brief descriptor, such as “blue hawk” or “sparkly emerald half mask”.
I totally want to make this one but it’s conditioned that work will let me leave early, too. If I cannot make my “persuade roll” I will bow out so that another can have my seat.
FYI. 🙁
If you are having work problems, but can arrive by 7:30 or 8. Let us know, and we might be able to work with that since we’re pre-casting and pre-rulesing.
Will do, Danielle. Thanks.
This game is listed with 25 players, but based on advance signups we will try and cut it down to fit player number size.
Character sheets and world info will be distributed via email pre-game based on a survey.
Characters will have the option to wear masks, either made by themselves or provided by us. For those who do not like masks, an alternative sticker will be provided.
If you played in this game 10 years ago, you are still welcome to sign up.
