Description:

September, 1942: aircraft of the Luftwaffe hang like carrion birds over the dying corpse of Stalingrad. Day by day the Germans advance. Their control of the skies is almost total.

At Srednaia Akhtuba airbase, 4 Yak-1B fighters sit parked among the LaGG 3s of the 437th Fighter Regiment, flown in the previous day by new pilots. But before they can fight the Hitlerite aggressors, they will have to fight their own commander and fellow pilots, because there are those who do not believe that women have a place in the sky.

Free Hunters is a homebrew for Night Witches. Instead of flying 2-seat night bombers, players fly Yak-1B fighters against the Luftwaffe. The first duty station, Srednaia Akhtuba, covers the efforts of Soviet Aviation to wrest the skies over Stalingrad from the Luftwaffe.
