ToTheTempleOfDoomGM: Sophie Lagacé

System: To the Temple of Doom! To Defeat the Ancient Evil!

Players: 2 to 4

Player Age: 13+
To the Temple of Doom! To Defeat the Ancient Evil! is a short, light, RPG of adventurer archaeologists and their exploits, in the style of Indiana Jones, The Mummy, and many other action films.

You are an expert archaeologist . In fact you are the best in your field. Until now you have spent your days buried in musty tomes, toiling on dig sites, and studying artifacts to save the past. Now, you must save the future.

An ancient evil stirs, waking deep within the bowels of an untouched temple. An evil that will end the world as we know it. Only you and your fellow archaeologists can examine the clues, unravel the mysteries, and uncover the method to subdue this terrible threat. Yes, it is up to you to enter the Temple of Doom, find its secrets, and defeat the ancient evil before it destroys the world!

GM: Sophie Lagacé

LooseThreadsSystem: Fate World: Loose Threads (Fate Core)

Players: 2 to 4

Player Age: 13+
On the edges of fairy tales live members of the Company‚ collateral damage from someone else’s Happily Ever After.

Maybe their fairy godmother got lost on the way, or they failed to solve the riddle, or their siblings forgot to save them before riding off into the sunset. Now Company members live on the edges of tales and travel the In-Betweens, helping others like them who need rescuing from ogres, reversing of curses, and freedom from the evil clutches of bandits. People who the stories have forgotten. It’s difficult work, and every story must end eventually.

How will yours turn out?

Will you be a dashing damsel, a prince in distress, a charming witch, or something else new and interesting that breaks the mold?

thequietyearGM: Sophie Lagacé

System: The Quiet Year

Players: 2 to 4

Player Age: 18+
You define the struggles of a post-apocalyptic community, and attempt to build something good within their quiet year. Every decision and every action is set against a backdrop of dwindling time and rising concern.

The game is played using a deck of cards – each of the 52 cards corresponds to a week during the quiet year. Each card triggers certain events – bringing bad news, good omens, project delays and sudden changes in luck. At the end of the quiet year, the Frost Shepherds will come, ending the game.

At_the_Stroke_of_MidnightGM: Sophie Lagacé

System: At the Stroke of Midnight

Players: 2 to 6

Player Age: 18+
The sun sinks in the sky, bringing long shadows and a wisp of cool air. In a handful of hours it will be midnight. The veil between the world of the living and the world of the dead is growing thinner with each passing moment. At midnight it will open, and those who are able to stand unshaken before the Beloved Dead will be allowed a boon. You and your friends set out for the graveyard, each eager to meet the Beloved Dead and ask a favor from those who have gone before.

The game is played with dice and looking for patterns, Yahtzee-style, that will allow you to influence the story.

baronGM: Tre’ Grisby

System: The Extraordinary Adventures of Baron Munchausen

Players: 3 to 7

Player Age: 18+
A few nobles walk into a bar/pub. With only one table left in the place they all take a seat and order some drinks. After three drinks all the nobles introduce themselves and begin to spin their tales. Everyone in the bar can do nothing else but listen to these high born customers retell their incredible experiences. Do you have time to share you stories with us. The Baron is about telling huge “fish tales”. Make up the craziest story you can, if you can…

lovecraftesqueGM: Zed Lopez

System: Lovecraftesque

Players: 3 to 4

Player Age: 18+
The Witness experiences the events. The Narrator describes the events, and play other characters. The Watchers embellish the Narrator’s descriptions, sometimes playing other people. In every scene, a clue is revealed; each player struggles to interpret it. And then all the roles change and we do it again, constructing an improvised Lovecraftian tale.

left_coastGM: Zed Lopez

System: Left Coast

Players: 3 to 4

Player Age: 18+
Left Coast is a role-playing game about a science fiction writer in northern California in the sixties and seventies, who struggles as the weirdness from her novels spills into real life.

One player is “the Author” whose life has just been disrupted. By aliens? Government mind control? Or something worse?

The other players control all the supporting characters in the Author’s life. Each of her friends, family, fans and nemeses has a secret that puts pressure on the Author. They might also be part of the conspiracy that’s invented as you play.

Together, you create short stories about the Author’s attempts to find the time to write while dealing (or not) with the growing weirdness in her life.

Friday 2-6pm (4-hr games)

Edrigohr_coverGM: Edmund Metheny

System: Fate Accelerated + Ehdrigohr

Players: 2 to 4

Player Age: 13+

Ehdrigohr is a land where the nine tribes must survive the terrible things that walk the lands from sundown to sunrise. Magic is everywhere, and people can bend reality to their will, or break it and unleash even more terrible things trapped in the emptiness called the Twain.

This game is focused on storytelling, high drama, and horror. Characters are heroes and heroines who work to hold back the tides of darkness so the people can live to see another day.

War of AshesGM: Edmund Metheny

System: War of Ashes (Fate Accelerated)

Players: 2 to 4

Player Age: 13+

Head off to adventure in a world where the inhabitants may look cute and cuddly, but generally carry numerous cutlery items which they may attempt to embed in you. Powerful but inept gods watch over the land, occasionally meddling with unforeseen (and often unfortunate) effects. Ruins of ancient civilizations hide ancient (and often highly unstable) artifacts. And looming over all civilization is the threat of the ravenous, endless, unstoppable horde of the Kuld.

So brush your fur, sharpen your teeth, and gather your sacred cheese. “Grimsical” adventure awaits!

DungeonWorldGM: Arthur Berman

System: Dungeon World

Players: 3 to 5

Player Age: 13+

Maybe you’re a crew of hardened adventurers, embarking on one last quest. Maybe you’ve never met before, and working together is the only way to escape. However this party formed, now you’re on the adventure of your life, and we’re going to play to find out what happens. No experience or preparation necessary.

thequietyearGM: Arthur Berman

System: The Quiet Year

Players: 2 to 4

Player Age: 13+

There’s a community that’s barely eking out a life. We’ll play through a 52-week deck of cards, sketching out what happens over the course of one quiet year, before the frost shepherds come and all is lost.

Secrets and LiesGM: Daniel Bayn

System: Secrets & Lies

Players: 2 to 4

Player Age: 13+

Four college students venture into the hills of West Virginia to film a horror movie. One year later, their footage was found. A Lovecraftian adventure inspired by The Blair Witch Project. For mature players who are interested in the interplay between reality, fiction, and meta-fiction. Perfect for a Halloween one-shot.

WushuGM: Daniel Bayn

System: Wushu

Players: 2 to 4

Player Age: 13+

We’ll improvise an over-the-top action movie in the style of 1990’s Hong Kong cinema. Characters created at the time in 10 minutes or less. Setting could be anything from Star Wars or The Matrix to wuxia fantasy or a John Woo-style ballet of bullets. Tone may vary from silly to serious, but always awesome.

hollowpointGM: Quinn Conklin

System: Hollowpoint

Players: 3 to 6

Player Age: 18+
Agents of a secret spy organization are sent to stop a corrupt billionaire.

Fiasco-Back-CoverGM: Quinn Conklin

System: Fiasco

Players: 3 to 4

Player Age: 18+
Most everything other than system will be decided at the table. If you have a favorite playset, bring it for consideration.

How It Works

This year we will be using a model closer to what is used at GenCon and Origins than at Go Play. Our purpose is to give players a few hours of fun while presenting games they might not be familiar with. In brief:

  • People registering to play will receive a GoD boarding pass from the host.
  • Each GM for the session will have a menu indicating the games they are offering.
  • At the start of the time block, the host will call boarding passes; we’re using a system that randomizes boarding passes while giving priority to people who have not played yet.
  • People whose boarding passes are called will pick a spot from the games that have not reached capacity at the moment.
  • GMs and their players sit down at their table and enjoy

Please swing by at least 10 minutes before games start to talk with a Games on Demand host. They can tell you more about what’s on offer and answer any questions about the games. They’ll also give you a boarding pass to get into games in the next slot.

On the hour the hosts will ask everyone to make some space and then start calling out boarding passes. When your boarding pass is called, give it to the host. You will be able to select a game from the available list.
