Friday 9-11am and 11am-1pm (2-hr games)

GM: Bernie Elayda

System: Die Hard (Dread)

Players: 4 to 10

Player Age: 18+
You are Hans Gruber. You and your team are trying to steal $500 million in bonds on Christmas. This was supposed to be an easy job. There’s just one problem: NYPD Cop John McClane.

System: Tango and Cash (Dread)

Players: 4 to 10

Player Age: 18+
You are Lt’s Tango and Cash. You have been framed for corruption. Can you escape prison and prove your innocence or will one of the mob families in Los Angles or the LAPD kill you before you can clear your name?

GM: David South

System: Lasers and Feelings

Players: 2 to 5

Player Age: 13+
You are the crew of a starship going where no person has gone before! This a rules-lite one-page RPG, a good game to take a break from serious intense games. So go off and explore the galaxy, fighting enemy spaceships using Lasers, or seducing aliens using Feelings!

System: Strain Basic

Players: 2 to 5

Player Age: 18+
Strain BASIC is a survival horror roleplaying game to play in any dark setting under the following premise: You are not powerful heroes, you are flawed survivors. Something is hunting you, its form obscure. Weapons won’t save you and supplies are scarce. Help is out of reach. If you go off alone you will die. The world is dark and reality is fragile.

GM: Sophie Lagacé

System: The Quiet Year

Players: 2 to 4

Player Age: 13+
You define the struggles of a post-apocalyptic community, and attempt to build something good within their quiet year. Every decision and every action is set against a backdrop of dwindling time and rising concern.

System: At the Stroke of Midnight

Players: 2 to 6

Player Age: 13+
The sun sinks in the sky, bringing long shadows and a wisp of cool air. In a handful of hours it will be midnight. The veil between the world of the living and the world of the dead is growing thinner with each passing moment. At midnight it will open, and those who are able to stand unshaken before the Beloved Dead will be allowed a boon. You and your friends set out for the graveyard, each eager to meet the Beloved Dead and ask a favor from those who have gone before.

Friday 9am-1pm (4-hr games)

 GM: Alexander Guerrero-Randall

System: World Like Clay

Players: 2 to 3

Player Age: 13+

Your words shape cultures. Your actions move mountains. You are a Shaper, a mythic being whose presence and power change the world around them. You will terraform the world, have epic encounters with strange beings and surreal locations, and discover your own identity as you play.

You’ll also be controlling your own pieces of the world as a Narrator and telling Shapers who go there what happens in them. This game is GMless and fairly rules-light, appropriate for first-time roleplayers and veterans alike. No dice-rolling involved. Run by the author.

System: Watch Out! Heartfelt Magical Girl Clash 200++!

Players: 2 to 4

Player Age: 13+

Defeat your enemies with the power of your emotions as a Magical Girl! Have mid-battle flashbacks to the time you all got ice cream at the mall! Yell the name of your special attack! Tell everybody about your rad outfit and theme music during a transformation sequence!

This game includes a section on agreeing about what tones you want to include, so it can fit anywhere on the sliding scale from Sailor Moon to Madoka Magica, and is also fun and accessible for people who’ve never seen any Magical Girl type shows! No dice-rolling involved. Run by the author.

GM: Dan Pradanamus

System: Chaosium Runequest

Players: 2 to 4

Player Age: 13+

Evil meets evil. Pencil, character sheet, dice, figures, battlemat.

Chaos Badass Tactical Deathmatch, heavy on spells and spirit combat.

Most likely, limbs will fly!

System: Warhammer Quest Adventure Card Game

Players: 3 to 4

Player Age: 13+

Warhammer Quest: The Adventure Card Game is a cooperative game of heroic dungeon adventures for one to four players. Players assume the roles of some of the Old World’s most iconic heroes, then venture into the shadows to battle ghouls, Goblins, Skaven, giant bats, swarms of rats, and other monsters.

Can you survive their relentless onslaught? Can you press deeper into their lair to find the evil villain that drives them forward? There are only two ways for your quest to end – in death or in glory!

GM: Matthew Melville

System: Fall of Magic

Players: 4 to 6

Player Age: 13+

Magic is dying, and the Magus is dying with it. We travel together to the realm of Umbra where magic was born.

Fall of Magic is an award-winning story game where we play a group of travelers in the company of the Magus. On the way, we’ll encounter strange hosts, fantastic places, and perilous choices as we play to discover who our characters are, how they relate, and how our journey changes them. While we play we reveal the map a hand silk-screened scroll, over 5 feet (1.5m)-long that unrolls as we travel revealing perilous roads, strange hosts, and fantastic locals.

System: Warrior-Poet

Players: 3 to 6

Player Age: 13+

A four-player storytelling game set in the final days of the Empire of the Moon. Take on the role of a heartbreakingly beautiful Warrior-Poet and duel using the ancient art of battle-haiku to establish dominance; to protect the Empire from threats within and without; to love, and be loved.

Game has some player vs player elements. Could trigger those with conflict anxiety.

GM: Roy Vieira

System: Dungeon World (Funnel World hack)

Players: 2 to 4

Player Age: 13+
You are part of a tribe of beast men that have come upon a temple built before life crawled out of the seas. Will your band survive?

This is a Sword & Sorcery hack of Funnel World — you can expect that most of your characters will not survive.

Rated PG-13 for violence and some horror elements.

System: Weird Wild Wuxia West (Sorcerers and Sellswords hack)

Players: 2 to 6

Player Age: 13+
The Old West, Martial Arts, Sorcery, Steampunk and Dinosaurs.

Will you be able to save the Frontier from the rapacious Robot Barons?

How It Works

This year we will be using a model closer to what is used at GenCon and Origins than at Go Play. Our purpose is to give players a few hours of fun while presenting games they might not be familiar with. In brief:

  • People registering to play will receive a GoD boarding pass from the host.
  • Each GM for the session will have a menu indicating the games they are offering.
  • At the start of the time block, the host will call boarding passes; we’re using a system that randomizes boarding passes while giving priority to people who have not played yet.
  • People whose boarding passes are called will pick a spot from the games that have not reached capacity at the moment.
  • GMs and their players sit down at their table and enjoy

Please swing by at least 10 minutes before games start to talk with a Games on Demand host. They can tell you more about what’s on offer and answer any questions about the games. They’ll also give you a boarding pass to get into games in the next slot.

On the hour the hosts will ask everyone to make some space and then start calling out boarding passes. When your boarding pass is called, give it to the host. You will be able to select a game from the available list.
