Sunday 2-6pm (4-hr games)
GM: Bay Chang
System: The King is Dead
Players: 3 to 4
Player Age: 18+
As a young warrior noble of one of the royal houses of Banteave, you’re caught up in a looming war of succession. To see your house exalted, you’ll have to fight and scheme, allying with your rivals and betraying your friends, falling in love with your enemies, daring danger, adventure, romance, and war. You were born for this.
Each turn a player chooses a scene type (see above!), which indicates what sub-game to play. The rules of that sub-game are focused on that interaction: a conversation, or fighting, or scheming, or falling in love, or… At the end of the game one noble will ascend the throne, their house exalted.
Players: 3 to 4
Player Age: 18+
For a long time, we were at war with The Jackals. But now, we’ve driven them off, and we have this – a year of relative peace. One quiet year, with which to build our community up and learn once again how to work together. Come Winter, the Frost Shepherds will arrive.
The Quiet Year is a GM-less map game, where we draw a map of what we build, what we accomplish, what tragedies befall, defining the struggles of a post-apocalyptic community. Every decision and every action is set against a backdrop of dwindling time and rising concern.
GM: ET
Players: 2 to 4
Player Age: 18+
Game of Thrones meets a dating sim in this game of succession, intrigue, and romance. You play a young warrior prince, princess, or princex competing with others to win the crown for your family while struggling with your heart’s (or pants’) desires. This prompt-based, GM-less roleplaying game can cover some mature themes and get emotionally vulnerable, so we’ll also cover some safety tools before we start. Please be aware that first time players will be asked to internalize a lot of text while playing scenes.
Players: 3 to 4
Player Age: 18+
We’ll play as a ragtag band of misfits with a set of real-world skills (e.g., gardening, information management, sewing) trying to make it together in the harsh reality of the post-apocalypse. Apocalypse World is a mechanically simple GM’ed game that covers mature themes and demands some emotional honesty of its players. It is a narrative game that focuses more on character interaction than success and failure.
In this version I’ll be asking players to begin with characters who are genuinely interested in each others’ well-being, so please take off your lone wolf pants and put your wolf pack pants on.
GM: Jozy Zim
Players: 2 to 5
Player Age: 13+
OMG, so many superheroes. You get to play the next generation of superheroes. Pick heroic life you lead, maybe you’re the next generation of a heroic tradition, a science experiment gone angry, coming to grips with a limitless power within, an alien from another place, and Play to Find Out what kind of hero you all are. Do they call you Dangerous, a Freak? Prove them wrong. Do you want to be the Savior they think you are? Play to Find Out. A PbtA game of super-powered teens in a city overrun with weirdness.
Players: 2 to 5
Player Age: 18+
Let’s do some crimes. In Dusk, our home sweet home, for now, they Whisper to ghosts, Lurk in shadows, Hound those with more money than sense. You just got to find an opening, and cut your way in. Cut long enough, and you’ll cut your way to freedom. Power. Or hopefully rich enough to pretend at ’em. Play to Find Out. Assassins? Smugglers? A Cult working for a higher (technically, lower) power, some Forgotten God? We’ll make a crew of scoundrels. Do some crimes in the corrupt, ghost ridden, electric city of Doskvol, under a broken sun, for a chance to retire somewhere better.
GM: Justin Hamilton
System: Bluebeard’s Bride (PbtA)
Players: 3 to 5
Player Age: 18+
Bluebeard’s Bride is an investigatory horror tabletop roleplaying game, and produces adult feminine horror fiction like Crimson Peak, American Horror Story, or The Company of Wolves, making it fun for horror fans and dark fairy tale fans alike. And the Powered by the Apocalypse system gives Bluebeard’s Bride the strong, yet flexible system necessary to tell your own flavor of horror.
This is a mature game that deals with graphic and unsettling themes.
Players: 2 to 6
Player Age: 18+
Tall Pines is a card-based tabletop story game where you’ll discover, create, and explore a murder mystery in a small mountain town. You’ll play through a tale in three acts, using the game cards to prompt exciting and enigmatic scenes, establish a shared language of symbolism and metaphor, and reveal the secrets that the town and its people hide.
This is a mature game that deal with graphic and unsettling themes.
GM: M.
System: By the Author of Lady Windermere’s Fan
Players: 3 to 5
Player Age: 13+
In this GM-less, storytelling game of wit and stage drama, players (of the game) will become players (on the stage), creating a story in the vein of Oscar Wilde: full of wit and social faux pas. As you juggle playing multiple characters and running the show, also strive to earn audience favor (or just send your fellow thespians into fits of laughter)!
Players: 2 to 5
Player Age: 18+
A Cozy Den is an intimate game of domestic winter. Players roleplay as Lesbisnakes who all have different needs in their Den and various ways of approaching these needs, from cuddling, to napping, to wrestling. Lesbisnakes are half snake, half human, and all lesbian. Various threats are waiting outside of the Den throughout winter putting stress on the Lesbisnakes feelings. Can the Lesbisnakes maintain a community of coziness during the overwinter time?
GM: YannK
Players: 2 to 4
Player Age: 13+
Demiurges are humans with incredible powers, that are living among the human society in a different contemporary world. They are both revered and feared, so they decided to keep a low profile, while the society is figuring how to regulate their impact.
You will be a close group of youngsters demiurges with a mentor, trying to learn how to master their powers. How far will you go to fulfill your goals without sacrificing your own self or your links to your friends?
Players: 2 to 6
Player Age: 18+
Night Bomber regiment of soviet ladies pilots during WWII.
You will be playing a woman pilot trying to fight the war, make friends among their peers, survive the dangerous night missions, and stand up against the strict political system and the rudeness of the soldiers.
How It Works
This year we will be using a model closer to what is used at GenCon and Origins than at Go Play. Our purpose is to give players a few hours of fun while presenting games they might not be familiar with. In brief:
- People registering to play will receive a GoD boarding pass from the host.
- Each GM for the session will have a menu indicating the games they are offering.
- At the start of the time block, the host will call boarding passes; we’re using a system that randomizes boarding passes while giving priority to people who have not played yet.
- People whose boarding passes are called will pick a spot from the games that have not reached capacity at the moment.
- GMs and their players sit down at their table and enjoy
Please swing by at least 10 minutes before games start to talk with a Games on Demand host. They can tell you more about what’s on offer and answer any questions about the games. They’ll also give you a boarding pass to get into games in the next slot.
On the hour the hosts will ask everyone to make some space and then start calling out boarding passes. When your boarding pass is called, give it to the host. You will be able to select a game from the available list.
