Description:

Ninth inning, two strikes, and the bases are loaded. She has so far pitched the perfect game, but now the pitcher can barely lift her arm. However, she refuses to step off the mound. In the stands the pitcher spots the scout watching her every move, silently judging. If she quits now, it’s all over. Her dream of playing professionally on the men’s team will have to be discarded. She looks to the stands and sees her mother watching her with concern. She knows her daughter is in trouble and so her hands are together in prayer.

The pitcher chews her gum out of habit. It’s lost all its flavor an hour ago, but she can’t tell. Slowly, she blows a bright pink bubble focusing on it to calm her nerves and steady her throwing arm. This is it. She’s going is for it.
Her right leg slides back along with her arm. Her left leg planted, an anchor in a roiling sea. As the pitcher is about to throw she sees the batter tense and she smiles. He’s just as scared as she is.

Then she explodes into motion, power and strength tempered by dexterity. Every second of practice, all her hopes and dreams are going into this one last throw. The ball leaves her hand, and now she knows that she has done all she can. It sinks, not too low, but just high enough. The batter swings and…
what happens next is up to you.

Golden Sky Stories is a game about benevolent spirit animals called the henge, who set out to help those in need. This story in particular is about the pitcher and the henge helping her achieve her dream of playing in the big leagues. Expect hope, kindness, joy, and maybe a tear or two to be shed.
