Description:
As a gamer you may have heard that improv is closely tied to role-playing, especially in narrative-based games. It’s true, improv theater teaches many skills that can make your game rock: collaboration, embracing failure, and taking risks. The goal of this workshop series is to highlight those skills (and more!) as they apply to role-playing games through improv exercises and scene work.
Level 1: This workshop focuses on exploring dynamic characters, collaborative scene-building, and the success/complication model. Beginners to improv are welcome and encouraged!
More information can be found on the Improv for Gamers website or or Facebook
Be prepared — wear comfortable shoes and bring a bottle of water. We will be on our feet, moving about, and being very vocal!

I will not be able to make it today, please free up my spot.
Super looking forward to this! I’ve never had a chance to do this kind of improv, but have read (multiple times) “Improv Wisdom” by P. Madson and found its advice helpful in many walks of life. Looking forward to the live event!
Hello Mia & Karen, Regrettably, we’re going to miss your Improv workshop for the 2nd year in a Row. Last year we were too late. This year we scored A’s playoff tickets, and would have to bail around 4:30 to get to the game. Thus, three spots are opening up in your Workshop. Greg Wirth, Sarah Hawklyn, and Carla Eilrich are all going to see Oakland whup Detroit.
At least this year we’ll get to meet you, our TFOS LARP is just before your Workshop. By the way, you are welcome to come early, and observe or join the madness. 19 Forever!
Oops! I just realized that I am running a game at the same time as this, so I have to cancel. A slot has opened up.
I would love to participate in this. Can another session be arranged? – Chuck
Hi Chuck. There won’t another session of Improv for Gamers, but keep an eye on this one, as there are occasionally spots that open up.
Also, Mia and Karen offer the workshop outside the con as well, check the website Improv for Gamers to see info about their future workshops.
Damn. Missed out on this again.
Ohh… how the tides have changed 🙂
Can’t wait to run this again! Looking forward to meeting some new awesome gamers and introducing them to improv.
I also totally reccomend this!!! This was SO much fun in addition to being highly educational!
Excellent workshop, highly recommended for GMs and players alike. It changed my approach to gaming.
