Description:

Technically not a LARP, this is a fun times game my friends and I made up about 15 years ago when we decided that Truth-or-Dare Jenga was a rip-off.

The Jenga pieces are numbered. Each number corresponds to a list we make together at the start of each game that consists of about 1/2 improv challenges, and 1/2 “dares” – things like, “sing a commercial jingle”, “tell an embarrassing childhood story”, and “romance the rice cooker for 3 minutes.” The improv section requires everyone participating to fill out slips of paper with people, locations/situations, and quotes. The people can be any person, living or dead, fictional or non-. The quotes can be from movies, books, or just completely made up on the spot.

When a person draws a Jenga piece, they must read the number aloud, and then set it on the top of the tower without knocking it down. If they get an improv challenge, they (and the last person who also drew an improv challenge) must each (blindly) choose a person (who they will be acting as in the challenge), one location/situation, and two quotes per person. The quotes are to read if they have no idea what to say – an improv safety net!

Improv continues for as long as the people doing it are up for it; usually no longer than a couple of minutes. The game ends when someone knocks over the tower. The penalty for the destructor is to pick 3 Jenga tiles from the bottom of the ex-tower and do them all in a row.

Prepare to laugh – a lot! There is no upper limit to the number of players in this game, so please do show up even if you don’t officially get in. People are welcome to come and go as they please!
