Description:
Short version: It’s Spirit of the Century in the late summer of 1722 and you’re all pirates, miscreants, buccaneers, and revolutionaries. If you want more of a tale than that, read on me hearties.
Full Backstory: You were born on January 1st, year Seventeen Hundred And One of Our Lord. You have found liberty and livelihood on the wild seas of the western Atlantic. Perhaps you were a child of aristocracy and ownership, war and treachery, struggling against the cruel actions of your own kin? Despite your origins, you have struggled, and fought, and pulled together a miraculous strength and backbone in your 21 years thus far.
They’ve claimed the pirate age as doomed ever since the King’s Pardon was issued in 1718, a bribe to bring us all back into servitude. Tis no lie that the same year saw Blackbeard go down fighting, Stede Bonnet hanged in South Carolina, and the first republic of the free sailors in Nassau closed her harbors, come under the boot of the turncoat Woodes Rogers.
Yet, Imperial hold on the colonies is still uncertain. Britain, France, and Spain bicker over land and trade. The people they rule cry for freedom. There are still many sailors and courageous souls who would proudly serve with legends such as you. Treasures, power, and land yearn to be put to use by free and self-determined folk, such as yourselves. Can you find a route to a lasting legacy, or will Empires use your name to bury their sins?

Any harsh backstory elements will not be re-perpetrated in-game, but at most used like Inigo Montoya, the thrust of a noble revenge. You will be asked to be responsible and compassionate.
