Description:
Sparkle, Baby! A LARP experience about the twisted world of stage parents
Sparkle, Baby! is a LARP inspired by children’s glitz beauty pageants (as seen on Toddlers & Tiaras and Little Miss Perfect).
Glitz pageants are considered “anything goes” pageants for children ages 0 – 18 where contestants can be seen wearing hair extensions, full makeup, false eyelashes, flippers (fake teeth), spray-‐on tans and acrylic nails. Contestants compete in several categories including beauty, talent and modeling (also known as outfit of choice). Beauty is typically the category that counts for the largest percentage of a contestants overall score, with facial beauty often used as a tie-‐breaker. Parents of pageant contestants spend a great deal of money on costumes, entrance fees, photographs and stage props – it is not unheard of for a single beauty dress (also called a cupcake dress) to cost $1800 -‐ $3000. Most children will receive something for their participation in a glitz pageant, most typically a plaque, sash or crown; winners of high titles may walk away with money, puppies, vacations, cars and representation from modeling or talent age.
You’ll will be playing a pageant parent, are you willing to do anything to make sure your child wins?
