Steel Horizon: Iron Road Part II
The scrapyard is just a memory now, burned up in the fires long ago. Been riding these rails for the better part of two months now, progress being slow and painful, trading what little you can spare for fuel, or food, or safe passage. You’ve spent more time stopped than you have moving, already lost twenty or so good people to violence or desertion. Not that you can blame them. A machine like this takes time to repair, nobody but you could even dream of doing this… and the fire follows you like a beast hunting it’s prey.
The rails have been rising for days now, the river gorge is ahead, and the old-timers warn you that the old bridge is a deathtrap, quarter mile long and over three hundred feet high. If that bridge can bear the weight of this old steam engine and if you can even make it that far… maybe, just maybe you’ll live to see the promised land waiting for you on the other side.
Who can you count on as you reach for that horizon? Only one thing’s certain, there’s always a price to pay on the Iron Road.
