Description:

Take on the role of a performer for a traveling carnival in 1930s Oklahoma, during the Dust Bowl. As you travel from town to town, you’ll solve mysteries and face threats both mundane and supernatural.

“They killed Fireball and now, if they don’t get their key back, none of us are leaving town.”

In this starting scenario, a fire swallower named Fireball stole the key to the city and the mayor has the whole town on lockdown ’til he gets it back. Where’s the key stashed? And why is it so important?

This is a playtest of an original game built using a modified version of The Between‘s ruleset. The tone is spooky and melancholy, though among a troupe of performers, humor is also expected. The game explores themes of found family and insider/outsider dynamics.

The game’s creator, Michael Van Vleet, has written for Gauntlet games including Trophy Dark and Trophy Gold, Brindlewood Bay, Public Access, and Arkham Herald.
