Description:
It’s 1983. You’re just a kid, growing up in a sleepy Northern Californian town, looking forward to the summer before junior high, your last summer as “just a kid.” You’ve almost saved enough allowance and lunch money to get the latest record by The Police. School is almost over and half of your class is absent anyways, sick with some kind of flu that causes fevered dreams and mass hallucinations. Your school lab just got Apple IIs and rumor is there is a secret directory loaded with Ms Pac-Man. Rumor also talks about the strange lights hovering in the forest at night, mostly around the high-security military research facility just outside of town. Return of the Jedi comes out this Wednesday, and the whole gang is gonna bike to the next town because they have theater that plays THX (you don’t know what that is). But tonight you’re excited for the weekly D&D game. The DM just got a book, “Deities & Demigods”, but the super-secret version with all kind of weird monsters like 100-foot-tall octopus-face guys and lizard gods who must not be named. You’re so gonna level up…
Lovecraft meets Spielberg by way of Gygax and a potpourri of King and Cronenberg, as Eighties kids face the Unspeakable, secret government conspiracies, and roll for THAC0. This is a game of horror and nostalgia, for those who remember using crayons to color the numbers on their dice.
