Description:
The Ministry of Information oversees everything and Central Services makes sure everything runs smoothly. You’ve got a good job in Information Transit, you know you should be happy just like everyone says you should be — “Relax! Take some Soma!” your friends say. But you can’t stop feeling like the system is broken.
You’ve found a few confidants that secretly think like you, who also have come to see Big Brother not as a protector but as an oppressor. Your small treasonous group has a hidden meeting space where they feel free to air their grievances. No plots, no schemes — not yet at least — it’s just innocent banter you tell yourself but you know if anyone caught you or even suspected, armed agents of the Ministry would surely come knocking.
Then one day, you get a message from The Resistance — they’re real! It contains your first mission!
The Resistance is a playtest created by me, Colin Fahrion, based on a hack of the game Soth by Steve Hickey. In The Resistance you play members of a small cell of regular people who desire to overthrow the shackles of their dystopian government — based on “play to see what happens” a mashup of Brazil, 1984, Brave New World, THX-1138, V for Vendetta, etc.. To achieve your ends against the regime will take daring but also your group must avoid the suspicion of everyone they know in a world where suspicion is more valued than trust.
