Description:
Words Remain Below is an introductory session for The Burning Wheel, written by Larry Bierworth and Patrick Riegert. It is designed to give new players a taste of the Burning Wheel system. We will deal with superstition, fear, justice, and morality in the midst of a volatile situation. We will use the Hub and Spoke rules, without getting into advanced systems like sorcery, Duel of Wits, or Fight.
The story takes place at the Hallowed Hearth Inn during a heavy blizzard. The inn is in a mountain pass, fairly isolated from the plague currently affecting the nation.
Snowed in for the evening, the PCs are all among the guests to witness an inquisitor of the church and a young woman suspected of witchcraft enter the inn. Events will transpire that will leave the fate of this young woman in the PCs’ hands, with each person wanting something different than the rest.
People familiar with The Burning Wheel or who have played this scenario before are encouraged to leave time for those new to the system to join first, before signing up.
