Always Slummy in Coffin City
System:
Rest in Pieces
Player Age: 18+

So you’re a bunch of deadbeats. So what? At least you’re better than the other guy that lives with you. Oh him? Yeah, that’s the grim reaper. Or at least he is when he feels like getting off the couch. Most of the time he’s just a useless layabout, sitting on his ass, housing entire boxes of Twinkies. He doesn’t know it yet, but the reaper’s probably going to be busy this afternoon. Hijinx and mayhem are in store for our beloved deadbeats just trying to get through the day living in this hell hole with Death as their roommate.

Rest in Pieces is a dark comedy tabletop role-playing game that plays in short sitcom like episodes of abou

t an hour. Imagine playing ridiculous slackers from shows like The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, The Regular Show, Rick & Morty, or It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Well, I do declare!

Die Laughing
Player Age: 18+

Blistering Alabama summer sun, refreshing mint julips on a pristine veranda, and Foghorn Leghorn on a murderous rampage. Will you die the way you lived? Laughing until the cows come home.

Die Laughing is a GM-less role-playing game where players take on the role of characters in a horror-comedy. Almost everyone will die, it’s just a matter of how funny they make it. Once a character is gone, you become a producer and influence the story and mess with other characters until the end. The game is fast paced, and every session is different.

S.W.O.R.D.S: Sapphic Women Operating Robotic DefenderS
System: Thirsty Sword Lesbians
Player Age: 18+

You proud members of S.W.O.R.D.S are revered throughout the stellar sector as protectors of all that is good and just and gay. With the giant mechanical robots you pilot, you keep the people of Queertopia safe from cosmic catastrophes and hostile incursions from the Star Empire of Heteronormia. When tragedy strikes, who gets called in to save the day? S.W.O.R.D.S!

Thirsty Sword Lesbians is a game about kick-ass queers banding together against adversity, and supporting each other in being their authentic selves. Plus sometimes there’s smooching. S.W.O.R.D.S is a scenario that puts these heroes in giant anime-style mechs… In spaaaaace!

The tone of this game is some combination of goofy and earnest. Realistic people, with realistic problems, in an entirely unrealistic setting. No familiarity with the game system is necessary; all rules will be explained at the table and all required materials will be provided.

And Then We Were None
System: And Then We Were None
Player Age: 18+

Let’s tell the story of the end of a people. Whether the people ceased to be by war, assimilation, plague, cataclysm or otherwise, we start with the final scene and narrate the very end of their existence. Then we work backwards, each time setting a scene that precedes the last, until we have told the story of how this people were lost.

This is a GMless game, inspired by games such as Microscope and Dialect, and by the narrative structure of the film Memento. There are challenging elements to the game, and its unusual way of telling stories. But no prior experience is necessary, only an openness to improvisation.

The game’s tone is usually sombre, and can include just about any type of tragic content. However, there is a calibration at the start to make sure the players are all in agreement on how dark the story will get, and what sorts of content are to be included or excluded.

The Blood Stained Keys
System:
Bluebeard’s Bride
Player Age: 18+

Bluebeard’s Bride is an investigatory horror tabletop roleplaying game based on the Bluebeard fairy tale. Find out if you will make it out of your new home alive—and if you have what it takes to chill your friends to the bone…. This is a game of feminine horror that will touch on sensitive topics and delve into the realms of physical and psychological trauma. Due to the adult content, participants should be 21+ to play.

Ora et Labora
System:
Cypher System
Player Age: 13+

A board game by Uwe Rosenberg–It’s like Le Havre, where the buildings you build become the actions; and it’s like Glass Road, with a rondel for pushing your luck on taking resources; but it’s unlike almost any other Uwe Rosenberg game because when and where you build buildings matters a great deal.

Let me teach you 18XX
System:
1830
Player Age: 13+

If you like deterministic games of chess, and long strategy arcs, 18XX is the genre for you. Players take the role of investors buying and selling shares of rail companies. If you control the most shares, you control what that company does. All players share in the profits, but what’s right for the shareholders may not be what’s right for you!
