Description:

The object appeared on long range radio telescopes 1 year ago. It was thought to be a comet that was going to pass outside of our solar system – until it started to change course radically. It entered our system whipping around Pluto adjusting it’s course directly towards Earth. The object does radiate energy, though it doesn’t read like any propulsion we know of. Images of the object captured by Icarus in orbit around Io, shed no additional light on the issue. Top physicists, geologists and astronomers are all puzzled. The Icarus has been diverted from it’s Mars mission to intercept the object. No information has been leaked to the general public, nor most of those chosen for the mission. On the Icarus, it is now 24 hours before rendezvous and the technical crew is being awakened from cold sleep.

Your sleep pod on the Icarus pops open with a hiss and you try to get your eyes to focus in the dim light. The doctor should be here to oversee the procedure, but you can’t see or hear anyone else except the person in the pod next to yours. Something is definitely wrong…

Cthulhu Dark is a rules-light system for Lovecraft roleplaying. The rules are fun and incredibly minimal: they fit on one sheet of paper. You don’t need a character sheet to play, so you can start playing after two minutes of prep. Despite the simplicity, it’s an effective and elegant system, with some surprising twists in the rules.
