Well. I will miss the old spot! All the big cons have now left the East Bay.
Hey, I must’ve missed the hotel announcement. I just contacted the hotel, and only Sunday night is available for the group rate now. Is there a chance more rooms will be added for the group rate?
Unfortunately the hotel is completely booked (no more rooms to add). There are some additional hotels nearby on the hotel page as well as AirBnBs in the are. If you go on the #Lodging channel on our discord server (https://discord.gg/ZzPqYE3), there are also folks there that are coordinating lodging.
Hotel says no rooms available. Do you have up-to-date information on lodging for the con?
Hi Nik, our Wednesday night rooms have filled up, but if you set the arrival date to Thursday or later, you should still be able to get a spot.
Got it. Thanks!
Hi. When will details about the hotel be updated for 2019? The page still refers to 2018 at present, along with the booking link.
Hi John, we’re working on the contract now and should have information up in a few weeks.
Good to know. Thanks!
Does the valet parking let you come and go all day for a $10 flat rate? Or should I be looking at parking somewhere else if I might want to drive out for a meal?
Good news. Vallet include in and out privledges.
The block of rooms is sold out. Can you add more rooms?
Hi Alison, I just replied to your email. Let me know if that link doesn’t work. Best, Sean
Is this hotel rate page up to date, or is this only for 2017? I was looking at the the hotel’s website and couldn’t get the rate you listed above.
If you click on the “Book a Room” link that should take you to the site with our group code already set.
Hey! I just tried to get a room, and the only beds the website wants to offer me are single kings. My friends and I are close, but that’s AWFULLY close for four of us! How do we go about getting double queens, please?
Hi Erin,
There should be rooms with two double beds as well. I’l contact the hotel to find out why they aren’t listed.
Hi Erin,
Rooms with two queen beds are now available again.
Best
For parking, how do we get the special con rate? Just mention it to the valet? Show our badge?
Thanks for asking Ash. Good question! Just mention you are attending the con.
The block is sold out for Fri and Sat. Seems a bit early. Will any more be available later?
Hi Scott. Yeah, I’m working with the hotel to add more now.
Is it likely that more rooms will open up?
I’ll check with the hotel Mattias, and see if we can add a few more room nights.
10 more rooms added to the block. The rate is only honored till 9/28 so hop on it soon!
Any idea when game registration will open?
Should be mid September, but the specific date will depend on getting all the games in and getting the schedule approved by the GMs.
The hotel block is sold out. Is there a back-up option?
It looks like Friday and Saturday night are still available but Thursday and Sunday nights are full. I’ll contact the hotel to see if we can add some more nights.
Sean
Hi Jay, we just added 35 more rooms on Thursday and Sunday, so booking should be fully open again!
Thanks, Sean!
Hi, they say that the room block is full. I reserved at the full price for Fri & Sat. Is there a waiting list for the con rate? Please let me know, thanks!
Hi Vylar, thanks for the heads up. I’ll talk to the Hotel about increasing the block again and get back to you once I’ve heard from them.
Just added 10 more rooms on Friday and Saturday night. You should be good.
http://www.marriottwalnutcreek.com/local-area/getting-around gives a great deal of information about how to get around locally once you’ve gotten there, many of which suggest that a car is fairly optional… but what are the best options for getting to the hotel? It does not look like an airport-hotel shuttle is freely available, but are there regular connections or a “recommended best” use organisation? Bus? Train? Any information appreciated (and may be a good idea to add to the website.) I saw that the SFO (San Francisco) and Oakland (OAK) airports are the closest. For Amtrak, the Jack London Square (OKJ) station in Oakland? And bus to 245 Second Street in Oakland?
Almost universally the best way to get to the Marriott if you’re not driving is via BART. You can go direct from either OAK or SFO to the Walnut Creek station. From there you’re either a short walk (3 long blocks) or an even shorter shuttle ride (call (925) 934-2000 for a pickup) to get to the hotel.
Is there an area where we can request to share a room with people?
Hi Kasi, sure thing. Start a thread over on the room sharing section of the G+ group: https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/105051582735536095075/stream/961df477-581a-4b89-9159-2a901fe52ae5
